Who we are!

I am Coach Jona from Germany. I came to Zambia in 2023, did discipleship for 3 months and since then I am serving as a Coach with Operation Mobilization (OM).  To reach out to the unreached in Zambia I am using soccer, which is a national sport, as opportunity to talk about God. Kid´s and young adults between the age 6 to 18 in surrounding communities at OM Zambia get trained in soccer and most important we aim to share the gospel. As with the love and passion I have for children and soccer we decided to not only give simple training. We created an environment for them to open up, to speak, to listen, to grow and for them to be heard. We created the HOPE STRIKER ACADEMY.

Chosen to be not an ordinary Academy we want the children to have a close relationship with the Lord and also have a good understanding relationship with each other and their families in their community. Loved by God and loved by them self we want them to be the light in the world and their homes.

Hope Striker´s consists of over 50 children, both boys and girls plus 2 coaches. Our training in tactics, physical and Bible studies goes from Monday to Friday which helps with keeping the kids in a routine and keeps them away from what is happening in the community, alcohol, drugs, early marriages and many other destructive things.

Personal challenges and League games are giving us the right amount to teach that it is not all about winning games or scoring many goals. As a Coach it’s amazing to see that the children have won in live. To be a Coach is not easy we need to be a helper, a spokesperson, a role model, a mentor, a friend, a listener and adviser for the children. I love being a Coach in Gods Kingdom.

With all that the Lord sent me someone who supports and encourages me in the ups and downs of life and the Hope Strikers. Let me introduce my Fiancé Atipa Kashimoto, Administrator in OM Zambia´s Office. We are engaged since 2024, and we will tie the knot in April this year while we are serving together in Zambia.

As we are getting closer to marriage and be one we need your support to be able to live and do the ministry God has laid upon our hearts.
